About the Event

Learn how to articulate your finding in writing in a way that is intelligible, reasonable, and accessible to your audience, all of whom may have different roles or perspective. I will teach you how to use accurate language and how to document every step of your investigation.

There are many different formats and methods to document investigations. It is important to choose the format that works the best for your organization and accurately reflects the outcome of the investigation. Learn why and how to develop format for you. Your report may be all that stands between you and an ugly lawsuit. Doing it right matters.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

During this lesson, students will learn to:

  1. Decide upon and utilize a consistent report style.
  2. Identify the audience of their reports and write in a way that is accessible to every interested party.
  3. Document investigative steps in a timely and thorough way through notes, recordings, and summary reports.
  4. Use accurate and precise language to write what they know, not what they think they know.
  5. Clearly articulate their analysis of the evidence, and write an evidence based and supported conclusion.
