About the Event
Learn how to synthesize and analyze all of the information and evidence obtained throughout your investigation into a well reasoned conclusion. The lesson teaches the importance of utilizing your policy and established standard of proof.
You have done the work and gathered the evidence. Now what? Whether you as the investigator determine the finding, or that responsiblity rests with a manager or deciding official, you need to be able to articulate what evidence goes where, what it does or does not corroborate, and whether the information meets your evidentiary standard. You cannot write your report until you are able to organize the evidence in a coherent and logical way.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
During this lesson, students will learn to:
- Understand the definition of the evidence standard as outlined in their misconduct policy.
- Articulate what the evidence means and which asserted facts are supported and why.
- Analyze if the evidence supports the allegations to the required standard.
- How to apply professional training and experience to analyze and interpret evidence.
- Support every conclusion with evidence using the specific definitions from the policy.
