"Every decision has consequences, and you can’t always control those consequences. You can’t control how people are going to react or what they are going to say. In a misconduct case, there is always at least one person who is upset with the outcome. You can’t stop or control that, as much as you would like to. You can only take the steps to follow your policy and do the right thing, so that you can confidently defend your decisions. At the end of the day, the majority of people will recognize that you have done the right thing. People may sympathize with the upset party, but they will also know the finding was correct because you have built confidence in your process."
