
"So if you're like me, when you do a puzzle you do the orders first and then you start-you divide up by colors and shapes in the picture so that picture on the box is your guide to putting the puzzle together. In an investigation you don't always have that. Sometimes you're putting it together blindly and discovering what the picture is as you go. You're looking at the shapes of the pieces and how they fit together. So as you do this, as you speak with more people, as you look at more evidence, the more investigative work you do, the better you have this picture, better able you will be able to know which puzzle pieces are relevant, which puzzle pieces belong to the puzzle, which don't and how they fit together.
